I LOVED temping as a dental hygienist when I wanted a more flexible schedule, but I also had some major horrible experiences. Let me help you work for better offices if you plan to be a temp dental hygienist as well!

Even now, if I wasn't a practice owner myself, I would still be a temp!  You can take days off when you want, you won't get hassled by your 'boss' for calling in sick, you don't have to get advance notice for vacation time...being a temp means you work when you want and how you want!

You won't get benefits, but honestly, who cares?  These days, most full time dental professionals don't get benefits anyway!  The other concern is, you may feel your schedule may not be busy enough if you don't work for an office full time.  Guess what?  You can be busier!  Offices need temps, and they appreciate you so much more!
