How To Study When You Don't Feel Like It Anymore

How to study when you feel like you can't anymore?  That is the question.  Your test, exam or board exam is fast approaching - how do you study when you feel like you've studied it all?  You want to study, and feel if you don't you're missing something.  Here are some tips to get back on track:

1.  Mock exams
Mock exams are perfect!  Whether you make them, have a friend, or tutor make up some questions for you, go for it!

Why this works --  Doing random questions on the spot helps to test your knowledge.  You may think you know something but you won't know until you see it in multiple choice format and have several answers to choose from. Remember, there is only one BEST answer.  Mock exam-type questions give you random ones that you aren't expecting.  The board exam will give you unexpected questions too right?!  Perfect way to test your knowledge.

2.  Random chapters
Open your text books and randomly read a chapter.  If you pick a small chapter, read two more!

Why this works -- you have no idea what's on the board exam so choosing a random chapter is almost the same thing.  Read it and if you find that you're reading new material or material you feel less then confident in, you know you need to study that topic further.  Bam, problem solved :).  This results in more focused studying, and focused studying is the best kind!

3.  Study the most at the beginning
I find the closer students get to the big exam they can study less.  You won't need to spend 8 hours everyday the last week studying.  Have a set study schedule!  Your tutor can help you with that too :).  I have a set schedule for all my students in The Board Exam Prep Academy with weekly study plans.

Why this works -- having a set schedule and sticking to it means you're retaining information better.  You also don't feel pressured to study 24/7.  You will find reading your notes a lot faster than usual and quickly breezing through.  However, if you feel stressed and have trouble reading and retaining your material, you know to study those areas again!

It's a win win because you won't spend time studying the same material you know but instead you will be studying stuff you SHOULD be studying.

Good luck students.  I have a quick video if you wanted some study tips before the exam and what NOT to do before any big exam.  I'm talking specially about the boards here but helpful tips can apply for any test or exam.

Feel overwhelmed?  I have a 99.3% success rate helping dental hygiene and dental assisting students pass their board exam!  Don't feel stressed or overwhelmed!  Check out The Board Exam Prep Academy here - register for immediate access to all topics and materials needed to study for the exam, mock exams to test your knowledge, and live sessions here.

Happy Studying as always :)
